The program enabled participants to understand research frameworks, develop research instruments, determine sample size, and perform descriptive and basic inferential statistical tests. Overall, the workshop significantly enhanced participants’ ability to design, conduct, and analyze research studies effectively, thereby contributing to improved academic quality and research professionalism.
Introduction
The Salar-E-Millat Research Centre (SEMRC) organized a three-day workshop on Research Methodology with Hands-on Experience of SPSS for M.E and M.Tech students of Deccan College of Engineering and Technology. Under the esteemed vision of the Honorable Managing Director, Mr. Akbaruddin Owaisi, the Research Centre has been established to cater to the multidisciplinary research needs of various departments under Deccan Institutions.
SEMRC has previously hosted Research Methodology and Orientation Programmes for Doctoral Scholars, DCMS, B.Arch (DSA/DSCA), MBA/MHM, and Pharmacy (DSOP) departments. The objective of such academic interventions is to strengthen foundational research competencies and promote systematic, data-driven inquiry among scholars.
Purpose of the Workshop
In the academic and professional environment, research methodologies, analytical tools, and statistical techniques are rapidly evolving due to advancements in technology, software applications, and interdisciplinary approaches. To remain relevant and effective, post-graduate students, faculty members, and research practitioners must continuously update their knowledge and skills.
With this objective, the Salar-E-Millat Research Centre organized this Three-Day Workshop on Research Methodology and Hands-on Experience on SPSS to strengthen fundamental concepts of research while introducing innovative approaches to research design, data collection, data processing, and data analysis. The workshop aimed to enhance the overall quality of research output and promote critical thinking, academic innovation, and excellence in scholarly pursuits.
The workshop specifically addressed the following key areas:
- Research Methods & Research Designs
- Formulation and Testing of Hypotheses
- Development and Preparation of Research Instruments
- Methods and Types of Sampling
- Determination of Appropriate Sample Size
- Data Collection, Processing, and Analysis
- Application of Statistical Tests using SPSS with hands-on experience
Through this comprehensive structure, participants were equipped with both conceptual clarity and practical expertise necessary for conducting high-quality research and analyzing their own datasets effectively.
