Dr. Umair Wahedi is a pharmaceutical researcher and a PhD scholar with a strong academic and research background in clinical and experimental pharmacology. He is currently pursuing his PhD at JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research, Ooty, where his research focuses on neuroprotection in Parkinson’s disease, particularly in silico (Drug discovery), Rotenone and pre-formed fibril (A53T mutation) in vitro model for attenuating neuroinflammation and enhancing and enhancing autophagic–lysosomal pathway.

 

He holds a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from Osmania University. His research interests span in silico drug discovery enhanced by AI/ML, neurodegenerative disorders, mitochondrial biology, autophagy, lipophagy, and molecular mechanisms underlying Neurodegenerative disease, with specific emphasis on phytoconstituents such as Quercetin for enhancing α-synuclein clearance.

 

He has published multiple research and review articles in national and international peer-reviewed journals, presented his work at scientific conferences, and is a co-inventor on a granted patent related to polyherbal formulations. His scholarly achievements are supported by fellowships and research grants, including the JSSAHER Fellowship, and JSSAHER research grant.

 

At the Salar-e-Millat Research Center, he serves as a Research Assistant, contributing to multidisciplinary research activities, experimental design, data interpretation, literature analysis, and scientific documentation. He is proficient in English and Urdu, well-versed in research tools, and committed to advancing translational research while fostering an environment of academic integrity and innovation.
